Information for Saturday

Coming to the Ball on Saturday? We hope you’re looking forward to it as much as we are!

With only a few days to go till the Ball, here’s some important information you need to know...

Before the Ball

  • On and after Thursday 22 June, you’ll be sent an email from our ticketing system. This is your ticket to the Ball! It will contain a QR code that we will scan on the door for you to gain entry. Please print Thursday's email or take a screenshot on your phone so that you can get to it easily on the door. The QR code in your ticket email can only be used once, and there is no re-entry to Ball once you’re in.
  • If you have bought more than one ticket, you will get one email per ticket purchased. You will need to forward these emails to the people coming with you to the Ball so that they can gain entry. Alternatively, you can redeem the extra tickets with your guests if they arrive with you on the night.
  • Alongside your ticket, you will need to show us your College ID and some age ID (e.g. license, passport). This will be checked before your ticket is scanned, and you may not be granted entry if you don’t have either of these with you, so don’t forget them! Your guests will also need to show age ID, and any non-Imperial guest will need to be signed in.

Getting into the Ball

  • Doors open to the Ball at 19:00. You need to enter through the College's main entrance on Exhibition Road. You’ll be directed to the front desk where we will scan your ticket and you'll be given a wristband. You must wear your wristband at the Ball and Afterparty at all times. Anyone without a wristband in place will be ejected.
  • Please have your CID card, age ID, your QR code (with the brightness on full if using your phone) ready when you join the queue.
  • The front door can be busy, so we suggest you turn up early to ensure you get in ready to see any act or activities that you wish to see or use. All rooms have a capacity limit, if there is an act you really want to see, be in there early to avoid disappointment. Last entry to the Ball is 23:30.
  • Bag and body searches will take place at the main entrance, and throughout the Ball and Afterparty where necessary.
  • Any person under 18, or anyone who arrives after 23:30 or deemed too intoxicated will not be admitted entry. Management reserve the right of entry and their decision is final.

Once you’re in

  • Music starts in the Queen’s Tower Rooms at 19:00, before the h-bar opens at 19:00 and the Great Hall opens at 21:00. If you’re going to the Afterparty, you can head over from 01:30. To see details of the programme and line up at the Ball, visit the pages on this website in the menu above. Please note, all line-ups are subject to change.
  • Our food stall is on 20:00 - 00:00, and the Library Cafe has free face painting and photo booths running 20:00 - 00:00 and 20:00 - 01:00 respectively.
  • Some spaces have limited capacity, so we can only take a certain about of people in each space. If you wish to see a specific act, please arrive there early. Once capacity is met, a one in one out system will operate.

Have any access requirements?

  • If you have any access requirements, e.g. need wheelchair access, then please contact us at ents@imperial.ac.uk with your name, email and a contact telephone number.
  • One of our team will then give you a call to find out what requirements you need and tell you how you can enjoy our Summer Ball and Afterparty with ease.

Last, but by no means least…

  • We’ll be on social media all evening! Find our special Summer Ball filter on Snapchat, and lookout for our hashtag #icusummerball on Twitter and Instagram all evening. Join in the chat and send us some pictures of you in your finery (or costume!).
  • Finally, enjoy yourself! The Ball is there to give you a fun night out. Whilst you do that, please remember to drink responsibly. The Ball should be a night to remember, not to forget.
