Imperial College Union has a wide variety of student led art and performance groups and activities. From prestigious orchestras and drama societies to belly dancing and photography, there is something for everyone at every level and a fantastic arts community.
ArtsImperial
Music, Art, Drama and Dance all fall under the umbrella of ArtsImperial which synthesises student led activities through Imperial College Union and the Blyth Centre for Music and Visual Art, Imperial’s arts centre right here on campus. The ArtsImperial Facebook page advertises all arts related events which happen at Imperial, so check it out if you want to receive regular updates on the student activities, professional concerts run at Imperial and Gallery exhibitions.
Blyth Centre for Music and Visual Art
The Blyth Centre is on the 5th floor of the Sherfield Building and was opened in 2000 thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of Neville Blyth. It is home to the Blyth gallery where student and external groups can show their work, and a suite of musical practise rooms which can be booked for use through the Imperial College Website. To register to use the rooms, contact Naomi Anderson-Eyles the Blyth Centre Administrator. The Blyth Centre also run an extraordinary lunchtime concert series featuring world renowned stars such as Chloë Hanslip and Raphael Wallfish, with weekly concerts free for students and staff. Tuition in piano, violin and singing is also offered by distinguished visiting teachers. The Director of the Blyth Centre is Conductor Richard Dickins, who also conducts Imperial College Symphony Orchestra.
Arts and Entertainments Management Group
The majority of Arts clubs in Imperial College Union sit in the Arts and Entertainment Management Group. They are supported by an Executive Committee - a Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and ArtsFest Chair. Their role is to support club committees, represent them at Union Council and Clubs, Societies and Projects Board and help resolve interclub issues.
