Can someone that doesn't go to Imperial buy a ticket?

In short, yes. Each Imperial student can sign in up to two guests each. However, the guests must arrive with the student, who needs to provide their CID number or College Card. Details of the guest will also be required, including name, email address and contact number.

I'm part of an institution that is associated with Imperial College Union, such as CAPA or AIFS - can I buy a ticket?

Yes you can! As with all ticket holders, make sure you bring photo ID and proof of age.

Can I buy a ticket and attend if I'm an Associate Member?

Yes! Just make sure you bring your Associate Membership Card with you on the night.

Can under 18s buy tickets?

Unfortunately under 18s are not permitted to the event and all attendees will need to provide proof of age upon arrival.

What's the dress code?

There is no "dress code" per se, however in past years attendees have preferred to capitalise on the glamour of the event and come in black tie.

What about fancy dress and/or props to fit in with the theme?

Absolutely - you can come dressed as your favourite Bond character if you wish! One thing that won't be allowed is fake weapons, e.g. water pistols, plastic knives, etc. Everyone will be searched as they enter the ball and if any of these items are found, they will be confiscated before you can enter the ball. You will be able to reclaim your item in the week following the event.

Can I buy a ticket on the door?

In theory, yes. However, there are a limited amount of tickets and if tickets sell out online beforehand, you will be unable to purchase them on the door. Tickets have sold out in the past few years so please be aware of this.

What do I get with my ticket?

With your ticket you get the following:

  • Free fun fair
  • Student acts
  • Headlining acts
  • Silent Disco
  • Three rooms of music (and two more at the Afterparty)
  • Food and drink available to purchase
  • Professional photographer
  • Free photobooth in the Senior Common Room
  • Fireworks over the Queen's Lawn

Can I refund my ticket?

We apologise but tickets are non-refundable or transferable.

Where do I collect my ticket?

We don't issue physical tickets - after you've purchased your ticket online, all you need to do is turn up to the front desk on the day with your CID number (or ID if you don't have a College Card) so we can give you your wristband for the night.

Is there a dining option?

Due to feedback from previous Balls, we have taken out the dining option for 2015. This means that tickets can be cheaper for every student and more efforts can be focused on delivering an even better ball. However, food will be available to purchase until 01:00.

Will there be a cloakroom on the night?

Yes, it will be on Level 1 of the Sherfield building, outside the Great Hall.

Can I just buy an Afterparty ticket?

Only those with a Ball ticket will be able to purchase a ticket for the Afterparty. We recommend getting this ticket online at the same time as your main Summer Ball ticket. If there are any Afterparty tickets unsold by the day of the event, these will be sold on the door.

How do you take your Martini?

Shaken, not stirred.
