Speakers

The following people - drawn from College's staff, the student body, and external organisations - have kindly agreed to speak at the Rep Conference.

  • Dr Lorraine Craig

    Lorraine is Academic Tutor for the Department of Earth Science & Engineering, amongst other Departmental roles. In her time there, Lorraine has overseen ESE's rise to achieving 100% student satisfaction in numerous topics, including several sections of the National Student Survey.

  • Lewis Ryan

    Lewis is one of the Undergraduate Departmental Representatives for Earth Science & Engineering; he has previously been President of the Royal School of Mines Union, the historic section of Imperial College Union run by and for ESE & Materials students.

  • Graeme Wise

    Graeme is Assistant Director of Policy at the National Union of Students. Previously, he has held a number of roles at NUS UK and NUS Scotland, and was President of Canterbury Christ Church's Students' Union.
  • Natalie Kempston

    Natalie is the current Deputy President (Education) at Imperial College Union. Arriving at College in 2009, Nat has completed an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and a Master's in Public Health, both at Imperial.
  • Professor Sue Gibson

    Professor Gibson is the Director of the Graduate School at Imperial College London. The Graduate School is responsible for professional development courses as well as having a role in ensuring the quality of postgraduate education across College. Professor Gibson holds a Chair in Chemistry and has been the main author on over 160 publications; her group has graduated 42 PhD students to date.
  • Alex Bols

    Alex was Executive Director of the 1994 Group, the mission group for research-intensive, student-focused universities. Prior this this, he was Assistant Director (Research) and Head of Higher Education at the National Union of Students. He was also a member of HEFCE's Teaching, Quality and Student Experience Strategic Advisory Committee and is a member of the UK Team of Bologna Experts.
  • Tom Wilshere

    Tom is the Undergraduate Departmental Representative for Computing, a role he has held for three of his four years at Imperial. Tom has been actively involved in a number of initiatives during his time in Computing.
  • Joe Cooper

    Chairing the debate is Joe Cooper, Managing Director of Imperial College Union. Joe joined the Union in October 2011 after eight years as Deputy Chief Executive of Kent Union. Previously, Joe had been Area Convenor for the National Union of Students and President of Canterbury Christ Church's Students' Union, and has received an MBA from Kent University.

  • Andrew Keenan

    Andrew is the Education & Welfare Manager at Imperial College Union. Twice elected President of the University of St Andrews Students' Association, Andrew joined Imperial College Union in 2010. His first role was as professional support for the Academic Representation Network; he has since taken on staff responsibility for supporting campaigning, liberation zones, the Advice Centre, and policy formation around education and welfare.
