I was proud part of the team that made national headlines and defied expectations by beating ‘Cameron’s favourite council’ in Hammersmith and Fulham last May. I have lived in West London since moving to the capital, and have spent the last three years campaigning to keep essential NHS services like Charing Cross and other West London A&Es open. I am delighted to be able to take this campaign forward by standing for Parliament in Chelsea and Fulham and making this government answer for their actions.
I’m 26, and I’ve watched how my peers and other young people have been let down and left behind by this government’s callous attitude to younger people in society.
I don’t come from a political background – my parents and grandparents are teachers - I simply want to try my hardest to make a difference to the lives of those living in my community, who all too often are not given a chance to make their voices heard.
Working for a charity that helps people manage their money, I have seen the impact of George Osborne’s economic policies on people of all ages and from all walks of life. With the basic costs of living increasing over wages vast swathes of society are struggling to make ends meet. These people have been left behind by the coalition that has prioritised tax cuts for millionaires over supporting the millions who struggle every day.
Outside work and politics, I spend my time volunteering with a number of charitable causes that are close to my heart, and am a school governor at a local primary school.
I will use the skills, experience and knowledge I have gained from my campaigning, work and volunteering to support the residents of Chelsea and Fulham.
