Queer Objects of Interest in V&A Collections

Tuesday 16 February 2021 18:00 - 20:00
Online - Register via Eventbrite Guest Lecture LGBTQ+ Students

As part of LGBTQ+ History Month, we've invited Zorian Clayton, assistant curator at the V&A Museum in London specialising in posters, paper ephemera and queer art history, to talk about queer objects of interest in the V&A collections.

Zorian has been co-chair of the LGBTQ Working Group of the V&A for the past eight years, organising a multitude of events around some of the 1500+ objects of LGBTIQ+ interest discovered so far. He will discuss some of the most exciting finds to date, illuminating diverse queer histories across the museum collections, including early homoerotic photography; the clothes of legendary performers such as Leigh Bowery; 1920s lesbian poster designers for the London Underground, and butch and intersex identities in contemporary African diaspora photography.

This event is hosted by ICU's LGBTQ+ Network as part of LGBTQ+ History Month and is open to all.
