Dr Lloyd James has been President of Imperial College Union since August 2021. He has been a student at the College since 2013, having completed both an MSci and PhD in Physics. His PhD research focussed on the theoretical and numerical modelling of ‘dust’ impurities in strongly magnetised nuclear fusion plasmas.
Dr James has been involved in the Union for a number of years, having been a Departmental Rep at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level, President of the Royal College of Science Union, Chair of the Union Council, and member of the Union’s Board of Trustees since 2019. He was closely involved in development of the Union’s ‘Back to Basics’ Strategy for 2021-23, the implementation of which is one of his key priorities. His other priorities this year include reviewing the Union’s provision for Postgraduate students, support for Constituent Unions, and democratic structures.
