Union Council has rejected College's latest proposals in the ongoing Halls Rent negotiations.
Union President Abhijay Sood and Deputy President (Welfare) Shervin Sabeghi presented an update on the negotiations at the latest meeting of Union Council on Tuesday 21 January. A majority of Council members voted to reject all proposals offered by the College, on the grounds that the financial model was still fundamentally the same and certain key details had not been properly explained.
Abhijay and Shervin will be having further meetings with the College, and a special Council meeting will be held in two weeks' time to discuss the matter further.
This is the second time Council has rejected the proposals. After the initial rent proposals were rejected, Abhijay and Shervin had various meetings with the College in an effort to reach a consensus for students. This led to a minor concession being offered, detailed here.
