The winner of the 2016 Student Academic Choice Award for Best Teaching for Undergraduates was Prof Tim Horbury, of the Department of Physics.
What students said:
"What makes a lecturer good is hard to say, but it is easy to see. One way to tell is to think about how different had it been if he didn't do lectures and just handed the notes. With his lectures, every one of them was essential in getting a good grip of the content. It inspired me to like and understand mechanics more than before."
His teaching is clear, concise and inspiring
"Throughout our first term of physics, Professor Horbury's lectures have unequivocally stood out as the most easy to follow. His teaching method is clear and concise and so he makes what would otherwise be a challenging course become accessible. Interspersed throughout his lectures, Professor Horbury also makes sure to relate what we are studying in theory to physical applications - normally regarding space and rockets. Through these sections he conveys his enthusiasm for physics and has thus made his lecture course even more enjoyable."
