SACAs Certificates

Student Academic Choice Awards 2013

2013 was the first year of the SACAs - our first ever awards for academics and support staff, nominated and chosen entirely by students.

The awards were designed to celebrate and reward good teaching and emphasise teaching as a skill of equal worth and value as research. We also wanted to build a community in which students, academics and staff all feel ownership of the development and delivery of their course.

A chance for students to say 'thank-you'

There were eight awards in total, covering all faculties, departments and campuses. Specific prizes were given to those who supervise doctoral students, teach master’s students, and work in professional roles within College. The awards aren't designed to be a popularity contest but a recognition of innovation, skill, engagement and energy that students have received from academics.

Over 500 nominations were received - an excellent number for our first ever SACAs - and student panels shortlisted the below nominees. There were six shortlistees per award, and the winners were announced at the inaugural SACAs ceremony, in the Queen's Tower Rooms on 21 May 2013. The list of winners can be found below.
