Here are some tips to help you when writing your manifesto:
- This is about you and not your opponents. Not only will it look petty to bad mouth your opponents, you are taking up space talking about them and not you!
- In jokes will get your friends to vote for you but they were going to anyway! Don’t waste your space on an audience that you already have their vote
- Set out your vision and back it up with examples
- Keep it concise and as far reaching without being generalist
- Give instances where you have shown leadership which show your suitability to the role
- Keep it realistic, original, and avoid clichés
- Think about what would influence you to vote for someone
This year, you will be able to enter the following alongside your manifesto:
- Link to a Facebook page for your campaign
- Link to a Twitter account
- Link to a website for your campaign
- YouTube video for your campaign
- A4 PDF - could be a long form manifesto or campaign poster
These will all be published on imperialcollegeunion.org/vote as students vote in The Leadership Elections, and on imperialcollegeunion.org/elections.
