You did it!!!

President

You are now officially a shiny new Imperial College student. Celebrate hard because it really is a fantastic achievement and one to truly be proud of. You’re soon to be immersed in the madness of freshers’ week where the opportunities are endless and EVERYONE wants to be your friend. Looking back at my own journey, from achieving my own grades to now, a plethora of advice springs to mind and I’m going to use this opportunity to impart a nugget or two.

  1. Talk to and get to know everyone you come in to contact with.

Everyone is in a completely new and exciting environment and even the shyest students are receptive to social interaction! This is your chance to form the friend groups who will make your time at the College feel memorable and worthwhile.

  2. Don’t be put off by reading lists and the lot.

Imperial like to get their students stuck into their course as early as possible. This is great as an introduction but don’t take it too seriously at the beginning. The first few weeks are about getting on your feet and making friends.

  3. Join as many clubs and societies and as you fancy, you can always give up the ones you don’t fancy later! Your first year is likely to be your least heavy year in terms of workload and is therefore prime time for discovering new passions. Try it all!

  4. YOLO ;-)
