Student Outreach

President

A guest blog from a member of staff:

Hey, my name is Vic Casambros and I joined Imperial College Union as the Outreach Coordinator at the end of 2012.  My role was created both to ensure that students who aren't based at South Ken have just as good a Student Experience as those who are.  The other strand of my work is to engage with ‘Hard to Reach’ Students that are often less involved with the Students' Union such as International & Post-Grad students.

Since starting a big part of my role has involved analysing all the results collected from various surveys you have all been filling in, a prime example being the Student Experience Survey.  So don't worry, your feedback is well appreciated and being followed up so that we can find out what needs/issues are being reported and what we can do to help solve them.

I just thought I would say YES all those free text comments you put in the surveys ARE read by someone… and unfortunately NO I am unable to instantly solve the gender ratio or your relationship status; but I can investigate other issues you have you raised such as having to travel to South Ken due to a lack of training workshops being run at Silwood or creating more sporting opportunities at The Hammersmith Campus.

One project I am currently working on in collaboration with College is the “Hub on Tour” event that will be happening on Thursday February 28th at Hammersmith Hospital.  We shall be bringing across a range of key services that are normally based at South Ken, directly to Hammersmith in a bid to eliminate the distance and need to travel to South Ken which can often be a barrier to engagement.

Services that will be represented shall include the International Support, Accommodation & Finance from College.  The Union will also have your President Pual, Deputy President (Welfare) Becky, and Deputy President (Education) Doug coming to listen to Hammersmith Students and collect feedback on the issues and suggestions you have to create the best possible student experience.  The Union’s Student Adviser, Nigel, will also be coming along to offer and tailored help and advice you may require.

I look forward to seeing you on the 28th!

In the meantime if you have suggestions or good ideas of how we can do more for students based at other campuses feel free to email at: v.casambros@imperial.ac.uk or give me a call on: 020 7594 2915

Vic
