This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week. Dyslexia is a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) that affects a significant number of students. Fortunately, the Disability Advisory Service offer diagnosis, support and guidance to Imperial students who are, or suspect they may be, dyslexic.
Dyslexia can present itself in many different ways, including organisational skills as well as the more obvious reading and writing difficulties most people would associate with dyslexia. This week the Disability Advisory Service have a stand on Level 2 foyer of the Lord Sherfield Building full of flyers and advice about Dyslexia.
It cannot be emphasised enough just how important it is to disclose any disability you may have to College so that they have the opportunity to make reasonable adjustments for you, as they are required by law to do. Declaration can be done via the student e-service.
If you have any questions about dyslexia or any other disabilities, you can contact the Disability Advisory Service at disabilities@imperial.ac.uk.
