This is probably the first year since I was 18 that I’ve really taken notice of the fact that today is results day – school can feel like a bit of a dream after a few years out at university. Still, following all the posts from nervous sixth formers in the past few weeks has really reminded me how both scary and brilliant this time of year can be for our incoming freshers.
I still remember my results day. I didn’t even pretend to be cool about my results – I was definitely one of those people who waited up all night, anxiously refreshing UCAS even though you knew it didn’t update until 6AM. Then, even after I knew I’d gotten accepted I still managed to get worked up about collecting the Brown Envelope of Doom.
Regardless of how you spent your day today, the important thing is that you made it. In my humble and very biased opinion, you’ve made it into the best university in the world and a brand new chapter of your life is about to start.
Enjoy the rest of your summer – looking forward to meeting you all come September!
