In one weeks time the Undergraduate population of Imperial will return to campus! I'm always interested in what everyone has been up to, be it an internship, a part time job or a holiday you are guaranteed to hear fascinating tales from around the globe. If that’s not enough they’ll be joined by a legion of new students, over 5500, split about even between UG and PG and from 115 different countries. Plenty of people to speak to!

Here in the offices we have been preparing for the imminent arrival or return of many of our students, filling up welcome packs, planning Fresher’s Fair and organising a host of Mingle events for new students. We also have a new floor in the Union Gym, newly renovated general purpose spaces for students to use and put up TV screens about the buildings to promote events, deals and the latest news so you'll be able to tell what's going on.

But we are not the only ones that have been busy; thousands of student volunteers have been preparing our 310 Clubs, Societies & Projects for the start of term. I know this because I am lucky enough to see every sponsorship contract that is secured, to approve the budgets for events and meet up with some of the people who's passion for what they do makes Imperial College Union what it is. I'm continually amazed at what our members are able to achieve in their spare time and I'm certain they will continue to inspire and amaze, I'm incredibly glad to play a part in it.
