The sumo suits are here. Twister is being unpacked. Departments are dusting off those costumes, it must be Soc Off time!!
The Soc Off started last year as a way for DepSocs to make some money, and encourage students in their department to get involved and meet others from their subject. Last year it was a massive success with over 400 people attending the October event. This year we're planning pretty much the same format, with a few changes. SO here's everything you need to know:
Thursday 17 October
20:00 Metric
£1 entry with ALL the door money going to the winning DepSocs.
This year the money will be awarded too:
DepSoc with the highest % turnout- 50% of money
DepSoc with 2nd highest % turnout- 25% of money
DepSoc with most Improved % turnout- 25% of money
So even if your department hasn't participated before you should still get involved, as you have a great chance of winning the most improved turnout.
Departments usually dress up as their subject- so get in contact with your DepSoc if they haven't told you what they plan to wear. Examples: Biology wearing David Attenborough masks, Chemistry dressed as the dude from Breaking Bad, Medics in scrubs...
There will be fun and games including a Sumo Suit competition between departments and twister.
You can get a FAMILY PHOTO taken if you bring members of your family*, and we will be running a photo competition- so tag all your photos #SocOff and get tweeting.
ESE's very own DJLewRy will be manning the decks, so there'll definitely be some major tunes for you all to dance to.
So will it be another victory for BioSoc? Will ESE finally climb from 2nd to 1st place? Will Medicine get anyone at all to turn up?
Come along to Metric THIS THURSDAY to find out, and win some money for your society!!
DPE Love,
Nat x
*Your departmental family-it'd be pretty awkward if your brought your real parents...
