On the 15th of November I held the first Student-ICT forum of the year, with an undergraduate and postgraduate academic representative from each faculty.
Within the forum, students raised their issues and then ICT ran some future developments past us. The minutes are shown at the end of this blog but here are a few points:
1) Please report defects to the ICT Service Desk, which is located on level 4 of the Sherfield Building. For example if you have any issues with the print drivers connecting, can’t get a good wireless signal or don’t have Google Chrome installed on a College owned machine, please tell them.
2) Each department can choose to pay around $500 a year for DreamSpark Premium, which will allow their students to download professional developer tools on their own computers. More information can be found here.
3) To help improve the student experience and to help stop illegal music downloads, the students asked for Spotify to be installed on all College teaching machines. Imperial College Union will be chasing this issue up.
4) The College will be piloting a new survey platform, that will have survey logic and branching, while also offering quick analysis of the results. They plan to eventually use this platform for SOLE.
5) Students can look at feedback on Blackboard here.
6) You can now access your H drive from an iOS or Android device using the MobilEcho app. You can find out more information here.
