Two and a half weeks of handover are now over and I am more than ready for this coming year. Before I continute I would like to say a massive thank you and farewell to Nat Kempston, my predecessor, for her hard work, patience and humour. See you around!
Now let’s continue. The last two weeks were quite busy and informative, I’ve met many people of the College and the Union and listened to some exciting ideas and projects. For example the transformation of the central library sounds very promising, the presentation can be found here. The College is also working hard on a tutor case management system that streamlines and simplifies the communication of students with their students. The product will allow students to book an appointment with their tutors more easily and tutors in return have all the key information about students in one place.
At the moment I’m currently working on the Mums and Dads scheme together with the reps to ensure that all the freshers will be taken care of. For those who don’t what it is: The Mums and Dads scheme assign current students, the parents, together with incoming students, the children. This gives freshers a chance to talk to a student who has already been through the exciting first weeks of univserity life. Each department has their own Mums and Dads group and we’ll be ready soon to start the matching progress. So stay tuned!
If you need anything, have any questions, want a cup of coffee and talk about ideas, drop me an email or come by to say hi. I look forward to working with you!
