One of the better parts of my day today was spent heading over to Sherfield Walkway and taking a look around our new retail outlet at it's official opening. Apparently students and staff were quicker off the mark than I was and there was already a steady stream of customers dotting in to pick up various bits and pieces from our extensive range which was great to see. The shop looks a like a great improvement on the old Newsagents; there is more space to move and a wider range of products to chose from, a range we'll be continuing to evolve as we move forward.

This project started off about a year ago and it has been great to see it come to fruition. The new shop provides us with a lot of opportunities; it is already providing more positions for student employement on campus, provides what I hope will be a really useful service to our members and generates a revenue stream that we can use to invest in our students across our other activities as a union. Whether or not that is clubs and societies, representation, union events or any of our other services. Every penny we make is reinvested to help improve the student experience. Thanks also go to College for this opportunity as they have invested both money and faith into the Union to allow us this space to expand our provision of Newsagent products and shop products into Shop Extra.

And for any of you that went into sugar withdrawal in the short time between the Newsagents closing and Shop Extra opening; fear not - Pick 'n' Mix is definitely available and looks like it is full of sherbety goodness!
