The Conservation Volunteers (Lavender Pond)
Managed by the Conservation Volunteers, Lavender Pond is a nature reserve in South East London. Created in 1981, the site is the UK's oldest created urban nature reserve, and since its creation has been used for environmental education and offering people the opportunity to learn about different aspects of conservation. Covering 2.5 acres, the site contains several wetland and woodland habitats.
The aim of The Conservation Volunteers is to preserve and improve green spaces, whilst also benefiting the people working on them and living near them. As well as working on site at Lavender Pond, we also work around South London to create and enhance green spaces.
