Exciting new campaigns at Imperial!

A flood of campaigns is about to burst onto campus - bringing student-led activism, lobbying and volunteering to you!

The latest campaigns - created and run by students, and supported by Imperial College Union - cover a wide range of Liberation and campaign areas, from gender equality to mental health.

You can find out more about every campaign in our new Campaigns A to Z - where you can also offer your support to a campaign using the 'Support this Campaign' option on each page.

The six incoming campaigns are:

ICSexism

ICSexism aims to raise awareness of - and combat - sexism on campus. Through informal events, discussions and online safe spaces, students can share their experiences anonymously and participate in a campus-wide conversation about what constitutes sexism and why it's a problem. ICSexism empowers students to make change happen, creates a supportive network for women, and will aim to change Union or College policies to defeat sexism. ICSexism is led by the Feminist Society and the Gender Equality Officer, Madeleine Maxwell.

Fossil-Free Imperial

Fossil Free Imperial image

Fossil Free Imperial aims to mobilise people who care about the environment, but don't know where to start. We want to join the many groups globally who are lobbying their universities to cut ties with the fossil fuel industry. We aim to lobby College's Endowment Board to consider freezing their investments in the fossil fuel industry immediately, followed by a divestment (removal) of their capital in these companies. We want to see Imperial lead the way to a carbon-free economy, and become a champion of climate change action.

Mentality

Mental illness affects a quarter of the population, yet at Imperial, it's swept under the rug. Mentality aims to change this. We will campaign throughout the year to raise awareness, reduce the stigma around mental health, and help people seek support for their problems.

Half the Sky

Half the Sky is a movement to raise awareness of the injustices that women suffer throughout the world. It aims to educate people of the nature, scale and causes of these injustices, and most importantly, to inspire people to bring about change and detail how they can help.

Feeling inspired?

Want to start your own campaign? Great! Let us know what Your Idea is here - and we'll get back to you to let you know how to turn it into a campaign, and what help we can offer!

?Note:
When a student-led campaign receives funding from Imperial College Union, it doesn't necessarily mean the aims of the campaign become Imperial College Union policy - it means our student leaders believe it would be beneficial to the student experience to support individuals and small groups in pursuing their own campaign goals. However, some of the above campaigns are being discussed at Union Council on 10 February, with the aim of being adopted as Union policy. Any student is welcome to attend!
