Volunteer at a London Nature Reserve

To coincide with Student Volunteering Week (Monday 24 February – Sunday 2 March), Imperial College Union are collaborating with the London Wildlife Trust to bring together a group of students to volunteer for an afternoon at one of their nature reserves.

We’re looking for a team of students to join us for a fun and active afternoon on Wednesday 26 February at their Gutteridge Wood Nature Reserve near Hillingdon.

No specialist skills or experience are necessary, all you need to volunteer is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved and try different things!

We’ll be leaving the hustle and bustle of South Kensington at 12:30 and travel as a group to the nature reserve, returning around 17:30. This will be a fun and active experience clearing scrub land, cutting back and felling trees with the opportunity learn something about the London Wildlife Trust, what they do and why. The challenges of urban nature conservation are huge but with your support they plan to take significant steps towards enhancing a variety of reserves for the benefit of wildlife and people.

For anyone taking part, it’s recommended you wear sturdy footwear such as walking boots (although some are available for you to borrow) and you bring something waterproof. All travel will be reimbursed and refreshments provided.

So try something new, have a break from your studies and get back to nature. At the end of the day, we'll be enjoying a hot drink around the bonfire that, as a volunteer team, we have built.
