In collaboration with IC Movement Academy, the Wushu society is organising a seminar in which a 5 Times National Wushu Champion of China will run a 3 day training camp for students of Imperial College, on March 1-3.
The seminar itself will take place in the Union Gym and Activity Spaces: the first two days of the class will focus on Wushu basics and self-defence. On March 3, the final class of the seminar, students will travel to IC Movement Academy in Hackney, where their facilities such as adequate matting and gymnastics equipment will allow focus on learning how to do flips and jumps commonly seen in martial art flicks.
The camp is designed so that all beginners and advanced people interested in all different kinds of martial arts will benefit. The Wushu society have chosen to work with IC Movement Academy because their equipment and facilities allow for very safe practise of jumps and flips which the Union Gym cannot provide. The seminar is already generating a lot of national interest in Martial Arts circles, and if done well, will have the potential to be one of the biggest martial arts events in the UK done to date.
