Social action through social enterprise

On Monday 24 October Imperial College Union will be launching a brand new programme – A.C.T. Now! - to inspire Imperial’s students to use their talents and skills to take social action through social enterprise.

As well as telling you about the support, training and funding available to help flex your entrepreneurial muscles through A.C.T. Now!, we will be joined by special guests to hear about their entrepreneurial experiences and ventures: Althea Imperial 2016 Finalist Lauren Dennis; Venture Catalyst Challenge participants Tristan Dell & Debesh Mandal of IRIS Drone Technologies; and Imperial Alumni Ilana Taub & Michael Midge-Dixon from Snact. We will also be joined by Chrissy Levett, founder of Creative Conscience.

This free event – with drinks reception – is open to all Imperial students and you can register here.

Following the launch, A.C.T. Now! kicks off with the first of our Hack-it, Crack-it sessions on October 26 which are open to everyone – no experience is needed!

These sessions will bring together students from all faculties to identify problems and generate entrepreneurial solutions in relation to the three Hack-it, Crack-it themes: healthcare innovation, the environment and society.

Teams formed at these sessions will go on to a weekend boot camp where the Union will help them to develop the key skills to explore their ideas further and take them forward.

Teams will be given on-going 1-2-1 staff support, have access to additional training and can apply for funding.

A.C.T. Now! will culminate in a spring showcase event where teams can share their fantastic social enterprise ideas through a poster presentation and have the opportunity to pitch for larger sums of funding to take their idea from page to reality.

Find out more about the A.C.T. Now! programme and book your place on a Hack-it, Crack-it session here.

Join us for the launch of A.C.T. Now! and find out how you can take social action through social enterprise.
