Imperial College Union has today submitted its response to the Government's consultation on Sharia-compliant student finance.
Over 140 students completed our survey, giving their opinions on the Government's proposed student loan scheme that is open to prospective students whose faith precludes them from accepting interest-bearing loans.
Our members were strongly in favour of this scheme, welcoming it as opening the door to the benefits of higher education without requiring students to compromise their religious beliefs.
Imperial College Islamic Society and Muslim Medics helped organise the consultation and promote the survey to their members, although all students were welcome to contribute their views.
Our responses to the Government's questions and our further recommendations can be found here.
The full set of survey responses, including free-text submissions, can be found here.
