How we pay for university is arguably one of the most important parts of our lives for students. It can fundamentally alter three or four years of our lives. What’s more, generally we don’t get a say in it, we can’t vote before we’re eighteen and most of us won’t have an election we can vote in before we’ve chosen what path we want to take after A-levels.
But with a general election coming up in May 2015 and Tuition Fees looking like they might be one of the hot topics to talk about in the campaigning we have a great opportunity to have our voice heard and make a difference to how University is funded. Over the next few months the Union will be forming it’s campaign strategy for lobbying local candidates in the general elections and putting together it’s stance on how we as a body of students believe University should be paid for. We hope lots of students will be involved write the way through that process and that starts now!
Between Midday November 4 and Midday November 19 we are running a survey probing several of the issues we think might be important to you and asking you which of the most recently proposed models for Higher Education Funding you would most support: Graduate Tax, Tuition Fees or Free Education. The more students that take the time to fill this in the louder our voice will be and the better we can reflect your views.
