Despite what some of the cynics may have thought, Imperial really does have talent; something the three hundred people who attended Imperial's Got Talent last Saturday in Metric would agree. This year, the organisers Jennifer Forshaw and the rest of the Save the Children Society made a go at encouraging a wide range of talent (including and) beyond that expressed in music. The judges, Paul Beaumont (Union President), David Goldsmith (RAG Chair) and Yang Liu (IC Save the Children Chair) were supplied with everything from hula-hoop dancing to a national yoyo champion.
The Medics Jazz Band were the house band for the evening and although they were so on form that, whilst not competing, still received some votes. Cameron Jay, the guest performer did a fantastic job of finishing off the evening, and was also kind enough to help present the raffle.
Congratulations go to the evening’s three runners-up: Pole Dancing, Kasia the Hula-Hooper and Wellington the Body-Popper. The Imperial’s Got Talent 2013 crown goes to Vidish Athavale though – a first year Geology student – after wowing the crowds with his Michael Jackson dance.
Over £1720 was raised for Save the Children on the evening, and the a huge thanks and congratulations go to all those who took part in the competition and helped organise the event.
