Imperial School Ambassadors

This is an Education Strategy initiative to support our students to return to their schools or colleges to share their experiences of the College. Student visits will promote primarily Imperial College London and secondly, the student’s own discipline.

A number of departments in the College have successfully had a programme of student ambassadors visiting their former schools, normally in the UK, to promote their discipline in particular, and Imperial College London in general.  Through the Imperial College London Education Strategy of 2013, it is proposed to increase the number of students who undertake this activity. Any student who is registered for the scheme and completes visits can use the title Imperial School Ambassadors. Up to 20 Imperial School Ambassadors (ISAs) will be trained and visit schools for the purposes of recruitment in the 2013/14 academic year.

Who can apply
Any student who is interested in returning to their former school or a school where they have a close link, to promote Imperial College London. Applications are welcome from all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.

How to apply
Please send your name, CID no, department, email contact details and if possible the name of the school you might visit to  Laura Davies ( laura.davies@imperial.ac.uk ).  There will be a short interview and selection process.

What training will be given?
If you are successful in being selected you will be required to attend a training session on Tuesday 28 January from 17:00 to 18:30 (to be repeated later in the term if required).  We will send you full details on being selected for the training.

What if I have already visited a school this year and am interested in visiting another one?
Please send us your details as above and we will contact you.

Will you pay transport?
We will fund the travel costs: second class, with student discount card, to any school in the UK approved by the group

What will I have to do after the visit?

We will encourage you to

  • Register with the Imperial Plus scheme
  • Complete a short survey about your experience
  • Register to become an Imperial Student Ambassador (or ISA)

My school was not in the UK, can I still apply?
It would be fantastic if you kept in touch with us for future years, but this year the scheme is open to UK schools only.
