Imperial College Union is looking for a Disabilities Officer! Could it be you?
The Disabilities Officer is a volunteer position, responsible for creating and leading campaigns across College and nationally to improve the lives of students who identify as disabled.
Spanning the whole range of disabilities – whether physical, learning or mental, temporary or permanent – this is your opportunity to make a difference and make the student voice heard on disability and access issues. Previously, we have run and supported campaigns about mental health, stress, dyslexia disclosure, and more.
Our Disabilities Officer will be able to access in-house and external training, attend conferences, and apply for campaign funding. They will also be able to record their volunteering contribution through Imperial Plus , the Union’s programme for accrediting the skills and experiences of our volunteers.
Disabilities is just one of the many areas in which students can campaign. Imperial College Union supports eight volunteers known as ‘Liberation Officers’, covering the following areas:

These students are trained, funded and supported to lead campaigns, provoke discussion and change the world around them for the better. We also have a network of Welfare Officers across the Undergraduate and Postgraduate communities, and work with College’s own support services, including the Disability Advisory Service and Able@Imperial.
The Disabilities Officer is also a member of the Community & Welfare Board, a democratic student body that makes decisions about campaign funding and priorities amongst the eight Liberation Zones.
