Energy: Vice President (Talks)

Hi, I'm Sharada, a third-year chemical engineering student and I'm running for VP (Talks). I've been involved in the society for two years now, as a team member in the solar project, author for the Energy Journal and on the committee as the secretary. Being the secretary has helped me gain a broad understanding of what the society is involved in whilst playing a more active role in its activities as a committee member. It's also helped me further develop the organisation and communication skills required to host talks.

I'd like to run for VP (Talks) to ensure that engaging and informative talks are organised by the society next year. The subjects for the talks this year have been wide-ranging, and I'd like to continue to broaden the topics covered by reaching out to speakers in industries closely related to the solar, wind and nuclear projects offered. I hope this will generate more interest from those involved in the projects and also from members who are interested in these sectors of the energy industry. I'd also like to work closely with the marketing officer and the VP (Events) to publicise talks and to combine them with more networking/social opportunities as this will benefit members.

Thanks for reading my manifesto!
