Hi! My name is Sam Winiarski, and I am the current Webmaster on the committee.
This year, I am standing for Vice President to give back to this incredible community and ensure that we have a successful and fun events calendar this year.
I have had a great year meeting and getting involved in Bioengineering, and I want to take that further next year. Vice President seems like the natural next step for me, given my somewhat bizarre love for admin, spreadsheets, and general organization. I also have strong communication skills, fostering links and friendships spanning all four years of our course. I have experience from this year's committee and of planning events, having planned tours and gigs before, and I am currently planning the summer tour for my acapella group.
If elected, I would aim to integrate the academic and wellbeing reps for each year further into the committee. This would improve the efficiency and cohesiveness of events, and ensure that both groups are on the same page and can deliver the best program of activities throughout the year.
I also feel strongly that the current common spaces for us are inadequate. If elected, I would make it a priority to improve both the study and social spaces for undergraduate bioengineers.
I have spoken to Cerys, the outgoing Vice President, about what the role entails, and I am confident that I have the right skills for the position.
Thanks in advance for your consideration!
